How to Write a Dating Bio That Actually Sounds Like You

“I like travelling, food and laughing” describes roughly four billion people. A bio does not need to be clever — it needs to be yours. The test is simple: could any of your friends read it and know it is you before seeing your name?

Swap adjectives for evidence. Instead of “I'm adventurous”, try “Last month I took a night bus to see a sunrise and it was completely worth it.” One concrete detail does more than ten compliments you pay yourself.

Give people a hook. The best bios contain an obvious conversation starter: an unusual hobby, a strong opinion about something harmless (pineapple on pizza, morning swims), or a question the reader cannot resist answering.

“A bio is not a CV,” says the SayHi team. “It is the opening line of a conversation you have not had yet. Write the line you would actually say out loud.”

Keep it short, keep it warm, and skip the negativity. “No drama, no games” tells people what you fear; tell them what you enjoy instead. Then re-read it once aloud — if it sounds like you, it is done.
